People sometimes ask me what’s my favorite thing to shoot, and a little while ago, I might have said that Bridal Portraits were my favorite. There’s something so rewarding about taking photos of a woman who looks and feels so beautiful, and showing off that inner glow that brides have when they slip on their dress. It’s a magical thing, and I could shoot a thousand bridal sessions and never get sick of them.
However, lately I have been booking and shooting quite a lot of elopements. I know from experience that planning a wedding can sometimes be overwhelming, stressful, and expensive, and the lure of abandoning all the planning in favor of a simple, intimate elopement ceremony in a beautiful location is definitely appealing. That’s exactly what Nancy and Brandon had in mind when they called me up asking if I would be willing to come out to the Star of Texas Bed and Breakfast and document when they made their love official, and I jumped at the chance. Nancy has an amazing sense of style, so of course her wedding details were vintage and fabulous.

Nancy got married with her grandmother’s ring and it fits her pretty, vintage style perfectly!

Nancy and Brandon wrote their own vows and they were beautiful

Every Thanksgiving my family gets together to take a whole family portrait that my Mom hangs in her house for the next year. Mom, kids, grand-kids everyone treks out to the new perfect spot I’ve found and squeezes in close to create this year’s keepsake. My own family tradition has inspired my newest portrait offering: The Home For The Holidays Special.
Our Home For The Holidays Special is designed with large family groups in mind. It’s hard to get everyone together for a multi-generational professional portrait which is why the holidays are the perfect time! Maybe the last time you had a professional portrait of your whole family was at a wedding 10 or more years ago and you’ve been looking for the perfect Christmas gift for family members who already have enough socks and sweaters, well here’s your chance!
From now through January 1st we will be offering a special session fee for family groups of 8 or more of $1 per person! The holiday season is both short and busy and available slots for these sessions will fill quickly so make your appointment today for a portrait your whole family will treasure for a lifetime!
Today I’d like to introduce one of the many products from my boudoir line. The Little Black Book is a 5×5 hand crafted album perfect for the bedside table and they’re easy to carry along in your purse to show-off to your girl friends. You’ll have the chance to choose from a plethora of leather and cloth cover options, you can even upgrade to a photo cover if you like. If you like The Little Black Book but want something a little larger we have the Bigger Little Black Book which is 8×8, as well as our other boudoir albums. Come and celebrate an uplifting moment in your life with a boudoir session. I promise you’ll never forget the fun, the confidence, and the experience of this shoot. Give yourself the opportunity to relive a special moment in your life over and over again as you flip through the pages.
I will be introducing more products in the next few months. Stay tune!

Maddie & John both go to school at ACU, so we did their session in Abilene of course. The first time I talked to Maddie about her engagement session was at the Abilene Bridal Fair. For their session, they suggested Nelson Park, because they wanted a setting that reflected their fun and romantic personalities. When I heard park I thought -fabulous picnic engagement session! With a cute wicker basket, colorful quilt, and of course a few Dublin Dr. Peppers we had all the makings of a romantic picnic for two!
We got some awesome shots of Maddie and John on the playground equipment and strolling around the pond. With the exception of a narrowly avoided attack by a gaggle of smug and aggressive geese who felt entitled to our picnic goodies, all went well.
I loved this fun fall session & am SO excited for their beautiful wedding next summer!

I was lucky enough to meet Alissa and Billy on their wedding day. They enjoyed a very intimate ceremony at The Star of Texas Bed and Breakfast- it was just bride, groom, minister and me!!! I just love Alissa’s colorful bouquet that perfectly matched her purple satin heels. After the ceremony and their small reception, complete with ginger ale and fresh cheesecake, we hiked the trails of The Star of Texas in search of perfect photo ops. We hit all the high spots for two newlyweds, we even took a short trip to nearby Lake Brownwood.
Like most of the couples we shoot elopements for Alissa and Billy changed clothes for some engagement style photos after the wedding. We took soooo many great photos, it was hard to choose only a handful for this post. Hope you will enjoy your photos for years to come!

Jennifer and Cody’s engagement session was awesome! They are both students at ACU so they wanted to do their engagement session at the school that brought them together. With perfect forethought Jennifer booked the session during fall break so we had the run of the campus, and bonus the famous Chapel On The Hill was unlocked so we got use the beautiful stained glass windows as a backdrop.
Jennifer and Cody are such a cute couple and natural posers – I can’t wait to shoot the wedding in January!

I’ve been excited about shooting Stephanie and Bradley’s wedding since I did their awesome engagement shoot back in July. Stephanie and Bradley are such a cool, laid back couple their wedding defiantly didn’t disappoint. They had the ceremony and reception at the beautiful Brennan Vineyards. The ceremony was held out under the trees with light rays streaming through the branches – it was so perfectly pretty. And with all Stephanie’s black, white, and yellow details the reception was just gorgeous! Congratulations Stephanie and Bradley!

Stephanie has the coolest bouquet ever – I love the root meandering out the bottom!

I love all the cotton bulb details – so unique!
