Gavin dropped by the studio a few weeks ago (well, his parents brought him) for his 1 Year Portraits. As you can see from the pictures Gavin really like his books, but he doesn’t like getting too dirty. The brightly colored cake was made by Flower Power Cakes by Kim in Twisted Sisters.

In addition to having a beautiful wedding and being generally awesome Mary and Matt were also the first couple to try our new Photo Booth! Our Photo Booths are little different than what you might be used to – there aren’t any walls and it’s not automatic. What they are is loads of fun! We set up our background and lights along with a box of fun props during the reception. There is always a photographer there to encourage silliness and the photos are online within 24 hours so you can share the party with all your friends!

Mary and Matt got married over Memorial Day Weekend at the First Christian Church on Coggin Ave and it was beautiful. Mary wore a gorgeous princess dress and she had the cutest details everywhere.The sanctuary has the most wonderful floor to ceiling windows where late afternoon light streamed in over hand-made white and pink butterfly bedecked trees. Of course we had to use those windows for some dramatic portraits. Mary and Matt also had the most awesome grooms cake I’ve seen in awhile – a chocolate cake with a hunting theme, complete with monogram and kissing deer as a topper! There was plenty of fun and dancing in The Depot at the reception as well as our first Photo Booth, which we’ll show more of tomorrow.

Don’t you just love those beautiful blue eyes? I photographed little Remy in the studio awhile back as part of his Baby’s First Year collection. It doesn’t seem that long ago that I photographed his Newborn Session.  We usually recommend that the second session in the Baby’s First Year be done when Baby can sit up or crawl so that we can get plenty of cute pictures of Baby playing like these of Remy.

Kacey came by to model for a personal project of mine that I’ll share with you when it is complete. Since I needed a pregnant model for this one we went ahead and shot some maternity portraits for her. I tried out some new lighting and props and Kacey was a total trooper. So here’s a look at baby Tripp’s first portraits!

Welcome to the new blog! It’s been a long time coming, The Malnourished Artist served me well but since I’m no longer a starving, malnourished, or  vitamin deficient artist and photographer I needed a new space. The Malnourished Artist will still be up over on Blogger, but all new posts and sessions will be published here. I’ve moved a few recent posts over here so that it doesn’t so empty, but everything prior to 2010 will be left at the old blog.

I’ve switched over to a WordPress blog because of it’s expansive functionality. It’s easy to customize your own pages and menus so now you can sign-up for our newsletter or photography classes, purchase actions and textures, and get information on workshops all right here on the blog. A while back I shot Lauren’s senior portraits and the images are fabulous! We went out to Lake Brownwood because Lauren is the oudoorsy type and loves the water. She brought along her boyfriend and her super cute ferret Bruce. Bruce had a great time prowling through the grass and posing for photos.

Back in the fall I did a family portrait session for the Perkins and their beautiful little boy Remy. We found some great locations around Brownwood to really bring the warm colors of fall into the images. The reds, oranges, and golden browns will compliment their deco when they hang their portraits in their home!
